A Tribute to My Mom

At 84 my Mom joined the Lord.  We shed tears, a lot tears. We know that she lived a full life and she is assured of heaven and yet we cried because we can't bear the thought that our Mom has to go. We will miss her, her very presence and every thing about her. But God has an appointed time for every one and in the case of my Mom, the appointed time happened on May 4, 2011. On that day, she was called home by God.

The fact that my mother is a Christian (in the truest sense of the word) made it easier for me and for the rest of my family to accept her demise. We know that only her body died but her soul continues to live.  It is consoling to know that she is now enjoying a life perfect and eternal with Jesus in heaven.

God promised us eternal life if we will believe. We have to admit we are sinners, repent of our sins and accept Jesus as Lord and Savior.  My mother believed and got eternal life.  One day, she learned she was a sinner and was bound to suffer the wages of her sins which is eternal condemnation. She learned of the good news that there was  a way for her to escape such horrible end.   My Mom grabbed the opportunity of the free gift of salvation being offered by Jesus. She repented of her sins, and accepted Christ as her Lord and Savior. She received the gift of salvation which gave her the assurance of eternal life in heaven. Since then her perspective in life changed. She lived her life for Jesus first and foremost. In her humble capacity she served the Lord in every possible way.

Old age made her latter life difficult but through all those difficult moments God remained good to her. She passed away very peacefully.  It was a very sad day for the family. Nevertheless, as the death of His saints if precious in the sight of God, even if tears kept rolling down my eyes, I knew I need not grief for it was Jesus who took my Mom to bring her into the mansion He has long prepared for her. Yes, indeed Jesus took my Mom to Heaven. All praises and glory be unto Him.
